  Once youve decided to own your own grill the first thing you would do is check out the different kinds of grill available and check out the pros and cons of each. When you finally decide that a charcoal grill is the perfect one for you, you then find out that there are different kinds of charcoal grills too, and again each one has its own advantages and disadvantages. So you have to find the right one that suits your purpose.

If you travel a lot and the places you visit often are the kind where you can use your charcoal grill, then you need to look at charcoal grills that are smaller in size and travel-friendly. These smaller sized charcoal grills would be extremely handy for camping, tail gate parties and small family cook-outs. Smaller charcoal grill are relatively cheap and you can buy one for an extremely wallet-friendly price of $10 or $15. If you will be using your charcoal grill for a larger crowd, then you should consider the larger sizes.

When buying a charcoal grill, besides the size of the grill, safety should be your prime concern. Charcoal grills use fire and hot embers for cooking and cooking is normally done when guests are around. If the grill is unsteady and falls over, hot coals could fly off in all directions and this could be real fire hazard. You should buy a grill which has sturdy legs as well as a sturdy structure. If the grill has flimsy, shaky legs at the outset, it will just get worse while barbequing is in progress.

The more expensive charcoal grills could have safety features that are built in. They may have smothering valves or a water reservoir. It is always a chance that an accident could occur and your grill could get too hot or get out of control. These safety features automatically kick in and help prevent potential fire hazards.

A charcoal grill uses charcoal briquettes as well a lighter fluid as fuel to cook the food. Charcoal cannot be re-used but it is rather inexpensive and available in plenty at any local store, grocery store or gas station. Charcoal should be light and must be stacked in a pyramid for the best results. It must be allowed to burn for a while, till the fire goes out and used only when red embers of charcoal are burning.

Getting the grill and the meats ready for barbequing is the fun part, whereas cleaning up after the party could be a real drag. But if you intend to keep re-using your grill over and over, it is equally important to make sure it is properly cleaned after every use to prevent the formation of rust. Charcoal grill should only be cleaned after they have cooled down completely but you will find they do take a long time to cool down. One option is to leave the grill open and let the fire burn itself out. Be sure though not to leave the fire unattended as it can be a potential fire hazard. The faster option is to close the grill, cutting off the oxygen supply to the fire. Clean the grill as soon as the grill has cooled off sufficiently. Food debris left on the grill for too long can harden, making it even more difficult to clean off later.

Clean off all the grill surfaces using a wire brush and then spray the surface with spray cooking oil. Remove the racks and then clean them with dishwashing soap that has grease fighting properties.

  Putting up and maintaining a restaurant business is never easy. The activities involved in the operations can be so tricky that some owners give up easily.

With this, experts say that it is important for any would-be restaurant owners to learn and identify any possible risks that might go with this kind of business. In this way, they would be able to know how to create some possible counter-measures in case these risks are already imminent and unexpected.

So for those who aren’t yet aware of the many possible risks of a restaurant business, here is a list of some possible dangers when it comes to restaurant management:

1. Food contamination

One of the common and major risks of starting up a restaurant is food contamination. You can’t simply and easily avoid this because, in the first place, the business is all about food. Even if the management is very particular with the ways foods are being handled, there is always a possibility that the food may be contaminated.

2. Prone to robbery and thieves

Restaurant businesses can be very risky. Restaurant businesses are prone to thieves and robbers taking active jobs in the restaurant. The problem here is that most of these people were already tried and trusted by their owners and can easily lure their bosses into believing that they can manage your business well, but in reality, they are in for some unscrupulous activities.

In restaurant operations, money is such an easy prey because it can be easily accessed from the drawer or cash register. It would really take an honest staff, particularly a cashier, in order not to be tempted with the easy money right before her eyes.

3. Property loss

Restaurant businesses can be very risky when it comes to property loss brought about by unexpected hazards such as fire. Since most of the activities of restaurant business are mostly focused in the kitchen, many possible accidents may arise. Most of these perils are connected to fire accidents.

It would be better for restaurant businesses to always have a ready fire extinguisher since it would normally take longer time to get some help once accidents like fire happens.

Knowing these risks will help you gain control on the business. Keep in mind that risks are inevitable but once you know what to do, the problems become less dangerous.

Jazz is also a Dance

  While few people understand the true origins of Jazz as a music form, fewer people still understand the origins of jazz as a style of dance. Jazz is very much a fatherless child. More than that however, jazz as music and dance seem to have many mothers despite the fact that they have no father. By this I mean that there are many influences to this colorful form of music and dance though no one influence is notable enough in the new creation to be considered the ‘father’ or ‘mother’ for that matter of jazz.

Though jazz has many supposed birth places it really only has one true home and that home would be New Orleans. Much like the music this city is famous for, New Orleans is a city without a father too. New Orleans was a melting pot in the truest sense of the word before we had any real clue what it meant to be a melting pot. From the influences of the French, Spanish, German, English, and of course the population of former slaves and black free men and women, New Orleans was the perfect place for this blended and mixed style of music and dance to call home.

It is no wonder that jazz dance emerged as the result of jazz music. There are simply no adequate dance steps for the delightful music we have come to know over the years as jazz. For this reason something new and a little bit off the main path was needed in order to keep time and pace with the new music that was emerging.

As a style of dance, jazz was much more ‘brazen’ than dances in the past had been and in some circles considered to be singly unseemly. Polite society certainly had no interest in this particular form of dance. The good news for those who enjoyed this style of dance is that there were plenty of places in which jazz, as a form of dance and music, was readily embraced. You had to go off the beaten path a little in order to find it but for many it was well worth the effort.

Jazz music and dance was popular for quite a while and then seemed to go underground except in cities such as Memphis, New Orleans, Kansas City, and St. Louis where it was an ingrained part of the history and culture. We have seen a reemergence of this once popular style of music and dance in recent years however with some notable musicians bringing back the swing and ‘big band’ sound that went hand in hand with jazz as both a music form and a style of dance.

You should understand however, that when it comes to jazz dance, much like the music, there are no definitive rules that you must follow in order for it to be jazz. There are no rigid dance steps that must be adhered to for the ‘jazz’ effect. Jazz dance is often confused as ‘tap dance’ because tap music was often set to jazz music. It is important however to realize that jazz isn’t limited to tap dance and that other styles of dance fall under the rather large umbrella of ‘jazz dance’.

Some of the more common jazz dances include: Black Bottom, Boogie Woogie, the Cakewalk, the Charleston, the Jitterbug, the Lindy Hop, and swing dancing. Each of these styles of dance seems to be making a rather remarkable comeback in popularity over the course of the last two decades and are very interesting to watch, as well as in which to participate should you ever have the opportunity.

If you have considered jazz dance lessons for you or your children, I hope you will decide to indulge. Not only is the music for this type of dance excellent and uplifting but also the style of dance in and of itself is quite fun and enjoyable. There are very few styles of dance that can compete when it comes to allowing artistic license, going with the flow, and simply dancing for the sheer joy of dancing. As an art form and as a form of entertainment jazz music and dance are tops in my book.
